Experiment Participation

CURRENT STUDIES/ETUDES EN COURS:

Children with a stutter needed for a research project on speech and language in the brain

Recruitment period: January 12th, 2017 to December 1st, 2017.

The Centre for Research on Brain, Language and Music, McGill University, is looking for children (ages 6-11) to participate in a research project on speech and language in the brain. This is a 1.5-hour time commitment for 2 possible sessions. Your child will be compensated $25 for the first session, and if you are selected to continue to the MRI portion, your child will receive an additional $25 and a picture of his or her brain!

Selection Criteria:

-Native speaker of French or English

-Ages 6-11

-Right-handed

-No history of speech or language disorders (other than stuttering)

-No history of neurological or psychiatric problems (e.g. ADD, depression)

-No serious medical conditions (e.g., diabetes)

Sensorimotor adaptation in Parkinson's disease

Recruitment period: April 18th, 2016 to December 1st, 2016.

In this experiment, you say and listen to words displayed on a computer screen while we record your brain activity using EEG. It lasts about 2 hours and is only in English. We are looking for

  • Healthy participants between the ages of 40 and 60 years old
  • Participants between the ages of 40 and 60 years old who are diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. 

You have to be a native north-American English speaker to participate in the study.
