Ilana Bank

ILANA BANK, MDCM, FRCPC, FAAP, is an Associate Professor of pediatrics at McGill University and an Associate Member of the Institute of Health Sciences Education. She is Director of the Institute for Pediatric Simulation at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH), Chair of the MMI Committee (McGill Faculty of Medicine Admissions Committee), Pediatric Director of Specialty Education at the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning and an attending physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department at MCH.

Dr. Bank is involved in many local, national and international projects. Her interests include using simulation as an educational tool to improve patient care and safety as well as using simulation to educate and prepare for mass casualty events in the pediatric setting. She is also involved in postgraduate simulation based curriculum development and continues to organize and teach several simulation courses for inter professional and interdisciplinary trainees as well as for inter professional and interdisciplinary health care workers. Dr. Bank won the Faculty Honour List for Educational Excellence in 2017.

Current research interests: Simulation medicine; curriculum development; continuing medical education; interdisciplinary and inter professional education; patient safety; and team training and technology enhanced instruction to improve clinical training.
