About:
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Islamic Studies with a concentration in Gender and Women’s Studies at McGill University. I hold a master’s degree in the History of Iran from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. My research focuses on education in the Islamicate world before modernity, and I also explore storytelling and Persian (folk) tales through the lens of imagination and social imaginary. My current research examines educational tales in Iran during the long nineteenth century, a period characterized by significant changes in gender roles and sexual sensibilities.

Areas of interest: History of 19th-century Iran, history of education, history of emotions, imagination, khayāl, gender and sexuality studies, folktales, storytelling, educational materials, schools in Islamic societies.
