New Appointments for Helena Lamed and Nandini Ramanujam

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Me Helena Lamed, Director of the Legal Methodology Program and Faculty Supervisor of the Legal Clinic Course, and Dr. Nandini Ramanujam, Executive Director and Director of Programs of the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism, have been appointed to the rank of Associate Professor (Professional) in the Faculty of Law, effective April 1, 2014.

Robert Leckey joins Global Young Academy

The Faculty of Law is proud to announce that Professor Robert Leckey, a William Dawson Scholar in the Faculty of Law and a member of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law, has been elected to the Global Young Academy.

Based in Berlin, the prestigious Academy consists of more than 155 young, independent researchers from around the world, who come together to address topics of global importance during a four-year term.

Jeffrey Edwards appointed to the Civil Division of the Court of Quebec

The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that on January 29, 2014, adjunct professor Jeffrey Edwards (BCL’86, LLB’86) was appointed to the Civil Division of the Court of Quebec in Montreal.

Justice Edwards, who was admitted to the Bar in 1987, has mostly practiced civil and commercial litigation. He is also an accredited arbitrator and mediator, and as such, he specializes in the resolution of construction and product quality claims.

Calls for papers: 2nd Manfred Lachs International Conference on Global Space Governance - 29-31 May 2014

The Committee is inviting submission of papers that, among other things, will discuss and critically analyze the current socio-political, strategic and legal challenges to the achievement of good global space governance and, as well, propose viable policy options and regulatory mechanisms that will help ensure that present generations of humanity can continue their exploration and use of outer space without seriously compromising the possibility for future generations to do the same.
