Dr. Tamblyn

1.  Does the government have a record of all medications an individual takes? If so, who has access to it?

The Dossier Sante Quebec (DSQ) is a repository of all prescription medication that is dispensed for all residents of Quebec. Anyone can choose to opt out of having their medication in the repository. At the moment, only licensed physicians and pharmacists have access to the DSQ, and only after their identity and licensure status is verified.

2.  Are pharmacies in a chain able to communicate with one another? Are pharmacies from different chains able to communicate with one another?

Pharmacies can transfer prescriptions (leftover refills) from one pharmacy to another at the request of the individual client. They cannot communicate patient information to each other without patient consent.
