Graduate Conference: Understanding Canada

Understanding Canada: MISC Graduate Workshop May 21, 2024

The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada (MISC) seeks to foster a broader and deeper understanding of Canada by facilitating interdisciplinary conversations. To that end, we are pleased to announce MISC’s fourth bilingual interdisciplinary workshop on May 21, 2024. This event will bring together Master’s or PhD students in the humanities, social sciences, arts, medicine, law or architecture working on Canada (alone or in comparative perspective). We seek students from diverse perspectives and deploying a range of topics, methodologies, and theoretical perspectives. Aside from encouraging cross-disciplinary conversations, we seek to advance participant’s progress in their research and in developing their presentation skills. Participants will present and discuss their work with faculty and peers to enrich and sharpen our understandings of Canada in a series of focused, interdisciplinary sessions.

All graduate students conducting research on Canada, either exclusively or on a comparative basis, are invited to submit. We welcome both completed projects and works in progress.

To apply, please send a completed online submission form, which includes the title, and a 150-word abstract of your paper in English or in French by March 15, 2024.
