About the Prize

The President’s Prize for Public Engagement through Media was created to recognize outstanding achievement among members of the McGill community who share their knowledge with the media and the public. They play a vital role in supporting McGill University’s commitment to being of service to society and engaging with the broader community.

Prizes will be given out in four (4) categories:

  • Prize for Groups for groups of undergraduate or graduate students that engage with the external community and/or the media.
  • Prize for Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Fellows for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are just starting to work with media and engage with the public.
  • Prize for Emerging Researchers for those who are no more than fifteen (15) years beyond their PhD or other highest degree; and
  • Prize for Established Academicsfor those who are more than fifteen (15) years beyond their PhD or other highest degree.

The winners in each category will receive a cheque for $5,000.

The deadline to submit your application is January 31, 2024, at midnight. Winners and runners-up will be notified by mid-March 2024.
