Education Programs

Education is a top priority at McGill University Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences.

In addition to our Royal College accredited residency program, we offer clinical fellowships in:

  • External disease and cornea
  • Glaucoma
  • Ocular inflammation (uveitis)
  • Ocular pathology
  • Oculoplastics
  • Pediatric ophthalmology
  • Vitreoretinal surgery

The Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Residency is a five-year Royal College accredited program designed to provide clinical training in a supportive, academic environment. The program provides a solid foundation in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all major ocular diseases, while equipping participants with a framework for translating the latest research into patient care. The department encourages residents to explore their own interests through investigative research projects conducted in conjunction with a faculty member of their choice. Faculty members also share their expertise with the larger biomedical community through Continuing Medical Education courses, symposiums, and active participation in national and international organizations.
