Sandra Lafortune

Originally from Hull (Gatineau), I completed my bachelor's degree in Psychology at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.

In September 2015, I began my studies at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of Dr. Suzanne King in the Ph.D. research-intervention program with a specialization in Clinical Psychology for children and adolescents.

Since May 2016, I have also worked under the supervision of Dr. Christian Dagenais. This co-supervision allowed me to develop an interdisciplinary thesis project combining research in the fields of prenatal maternal stress and knowledge transfer.

Following the Fort McMurray wildfire in May 2016, we collected data from pregnant women who experienced the disaster. The experience of these women will not be in vain, as it will help in developing a strategy to better inform pregnant women of the consequences of stress during pregnancy on the health and development of their child. My goal in carrying out this project is to evaluate a knowledge transfer process to improve the services offered to pregnant women.

Artist in the soul, I have the ambition to become a Psychologist and Therapist through dance and movement. Finally, given my militant spirit and my interest in community health and multidisciplinary collaboration, I am always ready to carry out projects aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations.
