History

Founded in 1829, the McGill Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was the first faculty established at the University and the first medical faculty in Canada. With the renamed Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, it became the School of Medicine in 2020. Today, McGill is the leading medical research university nationally, and is renowned for its excellence in the health sciences worldwide.
