Awarding advanced standing or transfer credit is how McGill recognizes university-level coursework you have completed at another institution. In both cases, you may receive credit and/or exemptions from specific McGill courses, allowing you to progress more quickly towards the completion of your degree.
Pre-McGill Transfer Credit
New students may receive credit and exemptions for university-level courses completed before they began their McGill studies (e.g. CEGEP DEC, IB, AP Exams, university/college courses, etc.).
Study Away Transfer Credit
Students who plan to take courses at another university (while enrolled at McGill), must be on an approved Study Away and have their courses pre-approved in order to receive transfer credit.
