Participants wanted for research on human-robot interaction
Will robots play a part in the future of retail?
That is the question being worked on by the team at the Bensadoun School of Retail Management’s Retail Innovation Lab (RIL) and Responsible Autonomy and Intelligent Systems Ethics (RAISE) Lab, led by Dr. Christopher Yee Wong, Prof. AJung Moon, and Master student Tanaka Akiyama, from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).
About the study
The general context of the study is to use the robot as a shopping assistant (like a roboticized shopping cart) to help pick up and carry items with the goal of examining the existence of stigma while using it both from the shoppers’ and external observers’ points of view. The end goal is to help people with disabilities (e.g. blind and visually impaired (BVI) population) to overcome barriers with shopping tasks such as navigation, item identification, and pick up.
