French language training for students studying in health and social services

Description of Planned Activities

This project consolidates and builds on a pilot project which took place in 2006. The project will offer credit level written courses and non-credit oral courses in French addressing the needs of students in the health and social services disciplines who have to develop their linguistic skills in order to be admitted to their professional order or to work in a French milieu. In addition, the project will develop two course packs, one for the intermediate writing course and one for the intermediate/advanced oral course. A teacher’s guide for each course pack will be developed. These courses will be evaluated over the two year period. Students who follow these courses and improve their written and spoken French will be able to take up a placement in a French milieu and eventually work in a French milieu while also serving the needs of English-speaking clients.

Budget Allocation
$40,000
