Colombia-COLFOTURO

In effect since October 2023, our agreement with COLFUTURO is open to Colombian McGill students applying for a scholarship from the agency.

GPS will provide DFWs for COLFUTURO recipients in Master's Thesis and PhD programs, and tuition support of up to $4,000 for students in eligible Master's non-thesis programs. Department/supervisor will only provide Quebec tuition (approximately $3,000 per year) for the duration of the scholarship for Master's thesis and PhD students.

Eligibility for the agreement

  • Student must have received an Offer of Admission or be registered in an eligible PhD, Thesis Master's or Non-thesis Master’s* program.
  • It is the student’s/applicant’s responsibility to check further eligibility requirements with COLFUTURO, as students must meet both McGill’s and COLFUTURO's requirements.

*Eligible students are determined by COLFUTURO through their calls for applications. Visit the COLFUTURO website for more details.

GPS responsibilities

  • Announce important competition dates through GRADPROG
  • Flag eligible candidates to the GPCs
  • Provide a guide for supporting documentation
  • Confirm eligibility of applicants to COLFUTURO
  • Provide a DFW for students in eligible programs awarded.

Department/Supervisor responsibilities

  • Review COLFUTURO eligible application files
  • For COLFUTURO recipients eligible for the agreement, the supervisor or department must pay Quebec fees of approximately $3,000 every year for the duration of the scholarship for Master's thesis and PhD recipients.
