NOW LIVE: Minerva’s login page has been updated to implement 2FA and SSO.
The login page for Minerva has been updated to implement Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Single Sign-On (SSO).
The new login page includes two options to log in. Please take note of which login method you should use:
- The Students, Alumni, Instructors and Staff option is for users who currently have a valid McGill username (first.lastname [at] mcgill.ca) and password. This option offers two scenarios when clicking “Login”:
a) If you’ve already logged into one of McGill’s applications, you will automatically be directed to Minerva’s main page, a function of SSO.
b) If you haven’t logged into one of McGill’s applications, you will be required to enter your McGill username and password and follow the 2FA instructions. It is highly recommended to download and setup the Microsoft Authenticator app to your mobile device, if you have not already, please follow the instructions here.
IMPORTANT: If you have a valid McGill username, your McGill ID and PIN will eventually be phased out, so it is recommended you use your McGill username to login across all applications.

The Applicants and Guests login option is for users who do not have a valid McGill username and have been provided with a McGill ID and PIN.
