Digital Event | "Before the Screen": Sketching, Play, and Creativity in the Making of Disney Animation
Join former Disney artist Mike Wiesmeier for a family-friendly virtual event on the creative and experimental world of animation. Drawing on his experience working on classic Disney films like Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Hercules, Wiesmeier will explore the evolution of animation since the 19th century. He will also explain his technique of using loose sketching and a sense of play to bring animated characters to life on screen.
Presented as part of the McGill Library’s Play On! 2020 initiative, the event will introduce participants to McGill's animation and caricature collections, and will illuminate the creative processes that went into their production.
