Amongst the most widely used of extant brief assessment tools in psychiatry.

 

The main purpose is to provide a global rating of illness severity, improvement, and response to treatment. The CGI is a 3-item observer-rated scale that measures illness severity (CGIS), global improvement or change (CGIC) and therapeutic response.

Used in clinical trials, with all research populations; used for measurement-based care

Approximately 1-5 minutes. Varies with familiarity with patient
