The heart of the department is what stands out to me the most from my time at McGill – the care and support of the students and the staff for one another was truly unique and invaluable. My degree at McGill and Polytechnique provided me with a solid foundation of both technical knowledge and communication skills while the tight-knit student group and departmental staff provided many opportunities to discover and learn the super-power of leveraging the diversity of teams to solve problems.

Since November 2019 my role is the Trucks Business Team Lead at Imperial’s Kearl Oilsands Mine. This role was new to Kearl at the time so my responsibilities are building and leading an integrated, cross-functional workgroup across operations, technical, engineering and maintenance focused on achieving and improving mine haulage performance, availability and reliability through:

• Improving overall haulage capacity and fleet availability
• Reducing all-in operating and maintenance costs
• Enabling better decisions and organizational agility
