The panel consists of Dan Cooperman, Chief Advancement Officer at OPERA America; Sara Constant, freelance flautist, new music curator, and music writer; and Kym White, Senior Reference Assistant and Cataloguing Editor at the McGill Music Library. Discussion will be moderated by Jan Bottomer of McGill’s Career Planning Services.

The Society of Musicologists at Schulich (SMuSch) will host a panel discussion and Q&A about pursuing a career outside of academia (“alternative academic careers” or “alt-ac”) for graduate students in Music Research. Topics include post-graduation timelines and goal setting, how to prepare a non-academic CV, and how to market the skills you honed during your academic career for non-academic settings.

If you have any questions or topics that you would like to be addressed during the event, we invite you to email smusch.mcgill [at] gmail.com in advance.

This event is co-sponsored by the Music Research department and the Music Graduate Students’ Society (MGSS) Special Projects Fund.

With the safety of our community and our students’ education remaining as top priority, performances will not be open to the public. We thank our audiences for their continued support to our community and our School.
