Schulich's Opus Award Winners 2019-2020
Congratulations to all who received prizes at the 24th edition of the Conseil québécois de la musique’s Opus Awards! Many of the laureates were from the Schulich Community, and we couldn't be prouder. The ceremony celebrated the inspired resilience of the Quebec music scene during the 2019-2020 season, which included musical projects presented both before and since the pandemic began.

Barbara Hannigan to speak with Schulich’s Voice Area
The award-winning Canadian soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan is slated to virtually visit Schulich’s Voice Area! An artist at the forefront of creation, Hannigan is known for her performances of contemporary opera. She has shown a profound commitment to the music of our time and has performed premieres of over 85 new works.

ReVoice guest Alexander Lloyd Blake discusses inclusive and authentic choral programming
We are pleased to virtually welcome conductor, composer/arranger, vocal contractor, singer, and musical activist Dr. Alexander Lloyd Blake to the Schulich School of Music as a ReVoice guest lecturer to discuss the Black Voices Matter Pledge he co-authored as well as programming considerations in choral music.

Brittany Rae wins first place at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition
Congrats to soprano Brittany Rae (Grad Dip ’18) and pianist Jesse Plessis (Current DMus) for winning this year’s Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition. The duo performed works by Canadian composers Jocelyn Morlock, Gordon Fitzell, Ana Sokolovic, and Claude Vivier.
