McGill University welcomes Martine Alfonso as Interim President and Executive Director of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

In the context of the MUHC’s recent announcement regarding Ms. Alfonso’s appointment and the MUHC’s strategic direction, McGill University is very supportive of any proposal that has as its primary goals to improve patient care and strengthen the academic mission in its affiliated health network. A closer, efficient collaboration among the MUHC, the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and McGill University certainly has the potential to achieve these goals by improving coordination among the institutions involved. Any discussions in this regard of course necessitate a very well-planned, collaborative, consultative and systematic approach, in which McGill looks forward to playing an active role.
