Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Facial Pain

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders are a family of problems related to the jaw joint. The division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the MUHC is a referral center for the management of complex congenital, developmental, and acquired deformities of the TMJ. The team performs a variety of procedures related to the TMJ joint, including conservative non-surgical therapies, arthrocentesis, open joint procedures (ex. discectomy), arthroplasty, and joint replacement with either alloplastic or autogenous materials.
