McGill University has mandated Construction Sélection SRJ Inc to carry out the following project: Technical Services Building, Macdonald Campus / 17-124 - Deferred Maintenance.

The project consist of upgrading the Welding Lab exhaust system and new teaching laboratory, as well as deferred maintenance repairs, including fire protection compliance, code compliance, mezzanine work, repairs to the envelope, installing a new ventilation unit, electrical work and civil work.

The project will transform existing classrooms into two computer teaching labs with new audio visual equipment-reconfiguration. The scope includes the demolition of the back walls to include storage areas as part of the new teaching labs.

Three-day modification to reduced-mobility route due to drilling intervention next to Leacock

From Monday, Jan. 27 to Wednesday, Jan. 29, the pedestrian and reduced-mobility passage between the Leacock Building and Doctor-Penfield Avenue will be closed during the day (6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) due to drilling work planned as part of the Leacock project (see attached plan).

Update on Leacock construction project

The construction project around the Leacock Building is advancing on schedule.

The work carried out in the past few months included the demolition of the terrace and other concrete structures to the west and south of the building, excavation work and construction of a retention basin. We have also been repairing the exterior structural columns around the building.

Aug. 14, 2019 - Leacock south terrace closed for next year

Starting the week of Aug. 19, 2019, the Leacock Building south terrace will be closed for construction. Pedestrians will still be able to walk between lower campus and McTavish Street using the McTavish Gates pathway.

The Leacock Building will still be accessible from the stairwell, and Morrice Hall from McTavish Street. Reduced-mobility users will be able to enter Leacock using the east side ground-floor entrance.
