Polishing Your Fellowship Application for Clarity, Concision, and Cohesion F23

One of the challenges of fellowship writing is how to use the space allotted to communicate clearly and concisely.  This hands-on workshop will provide participants with tips and practice on how to edit text without losing the integrity of their ideas.   

Learning Outcomes:
Attendees will have the following opportunities during the session:

  • to learn tips and strategies for editing
  • to practice editing sample texts for concision, clarity, and cohesion
  • to apply one or two techniques to a short sample of their own work

Instructions:
To make the workshop as productive as possible, please identify 2-4 paragraphs of your fellowship application that you would like to improve (draft version is fine).

Facilitator:
This workshop will be led by Sarah Wolfson, a Course Lecturer at the McGill Writing Centre with ten years of experience teaching composition and academic writing.

Date & Time:
The workshop will be offered online via Zoom on September 29, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. You will receive the zoom link and other details in a reminder email a few days before the workshop.
