McGill Virtual Private Network (VPN) experiencing performance issues

 

The McGill Virtual Private Network (VPN) is presently in high demand. As a result, users may experience temporary performance issues throughout the day. We are working on a permanent resolution and we thank you for your patience during this time.

IT Service Desk walk-in centers closed

Due to the recent Covid19 pandemic, all walk-in centers on the downtown campus (688 Sherbrooke St. W., Room 285 and the McLennan Library Building) and the Macdonald campus (Macdonald Stewart, Room MS2-025) will remain closed until further notice. You may reach the IT Service Desk by phone at 514-398-3398 Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Fridays until 5:00 pm.

New login form, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on VPN starting October 9, 2019

Planned upgrade to telephone system on Sept. 15

Bell will be performing an upgrade on McGill's telephone equipment on Sunday, September 15th between 5:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

Internal calls should continue working without impact, except for an interruption of service for approximately 5 minutes before 7:00 AM.

Time server Splish/Splash decommissioned September 30, 2019

The legacy time server, Splish/Splash, will be decommissioned on September 30, 2019.

IT System Administrators who use this server should update their configuration to the new time server before the decommissioned date.

New IT Service Desk walk-in centre at McLennan Library Building

Starting the first week in September, visiting the IT Service Desk will be more convenient for students, instructors and staff, at our new location, on the main floor of the McLennan Library Building.

Walk-in service hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Security vulnerability - Zoom video conferencing software (MacOS)

If you have ever organized or participated in video conferences or webinars hosted with Zoom software, you should be aware of a vulnerability that was recently detected that affects MacOS users.  The vulnerability can allow a remote attacker to force you to join a Zoom call, with your video camera activated, without your permission.
