Aligned with the Principal’s 5 Priorities and consistent with our mission to support and advance teaching, learning, research and community service, the Library’s strategic priorities place particular emphasis on our commitment to being a user focused organization and our ongoing dedication to constantly improving internal and external communication.
A list of strategic priorities and action items were developed in late 2017, early 2018, when Library staff took part in a nominal group technique process to gain a better understanding of the issues facing the organization and the ways the services it offers can be improved. Through a series of brainstorming sessions and retreats, six priorities were identified as key areas of focus in the years to come.
- Transform our spaces in response to changing needs of our community: Launch Fiat Lux building project
- Deliver innovative library support for faculty and students
- Enhance online access to our collections: Implement a new library services platform
- Empower staff providing service excellence: Focus on staff training
- Foster a healthy environment for staff
- Preserve and share unique treasures with the world
Each strategic area has a description of the main issues, the executive owner responsible for leading the effort, and a progress “light”. The six main initiatives are somewhat flexible and will evolve over time as we chart a course towards achieving our vision.
