Schulich alum Yolanda Bruno and student Emily Belvedere shine at the Standard Life OSM Competition

24 year old violinist Yolanda Bruno was named the 2013 Grand Prize Winner at the Standard Life OSM Competition this past weekend.  Her prize includes a  performance with the OSM under the direction of Edward Gardner on December 11, at the Maison symphonique, recitals and performances across Canada and South America, as well as broadcasts and recordings at the Radio-Canada studios and residencies at the Banff and Orford Arts Centers.

From Crane to Schulich: A profile of Master's clarinet student Christine Hoerning

This is Christine’s second year at McGill. She is working towards her Masters in Music in Orchestral Performance and studying with Robert Crowley, who was the principal clarinet of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal. Alongside that, she is a member of the Orchestre Philharmonique Musiciens Etudiants de Montreal, she did work with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, and she’s preparing for an audition with The Albany Symphony in October.

First Play: Hank Knox, J.S. Bach: Keyboard Works

Schulich School of Music's harpsichordist Hank Knox is on fire this month. He releases an all-J.S. Bach album on the early-music.com label, and then on Sept. 17 he takes his harpsichord on the road for a two-week Home Routes concert tour of northern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
