Admissions: McGill-UdeM Piano-Vocal Arts Residency

Important Dates

To be considered for admission to the McGill-UdeM Piano-Vocal Arts Residency, pianists must follow a three-step process:

1. Applications for admission
   Candidates must submit applications to both the Université de Montréal Faculty of Music and the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, for admission to the McGill-UdeM Piano-Vocal Arts Residency program, before December 20, 2023.
   NB: To submit your McGill application after December 1, you will need to email Graduateadmissions.music [at] mcgill.ca to open an application for you.
   
   - Candidates holding only a BMus must apply to the DESS in Piano Accompaniment at l’Université de Montréal and the Graduate Diploma in Performance at McGill.
   - Candidates holding a BMus and a graduate diploma must apply to the DEPA in Piano Accompaniment at l’Université de Montréal and to the Graduate Diploma in Performance at McGill.
   - Candidates holding an MMus must apply to the DEPA in Piano Accompaniment at l’Université de Montréal and the Post-Graduate Artist Diploma at McGill.
   
   When submitting your application to l'Université de Montréal, it is important to indicate “McGill-UdeM Piano-Vocal Arts Residency” in the comment section of your application.

   When submitting your application to McGill, please follow the general instructions provided for collaborative piano. There is a section of your application to indicate that you are applying to the joint residency program. Applications for the residency program will be accepted until December 20^th. To submit your McGill application after December 1^st, you will need to email Graduateadmissions.music [at] mcgill.ca to open an application for you.

2. Preliminary auditions
   In addition to these two applications for admission, candidates are required to send their video recordings to the program coordinator by December 20, 2023 at the following email address: pierre.andre.doucet [at] umontreal.ca

3. Final auditions
   Results from the preliminary round will be communicated in early January, after which auditions will be held on February 10, 2024. In-person auditions are preferable, but a live online audition is also possible.
