Association of Ancient Historians 2014 Annual Meeting: Call for Papers

The organizers expect to hold eight sessions for the presentation of scholarly papers, organized around the following themes. Each speaker will have 25 minutes. It should be noted that this is a preliminary schedule; depending on the proposals submitted and accepted, some of the themes may change, and paper and panel lengths may be extended or shortened.

  • Greek History: Beyond Athens and Sparta---Local Histories in ancient Greece
  • Roman History: Early Rome
  • Late Antiquity: Frontiers and Borderlands in Late Antiquity
  • Greek Historiography: Perception and Emotion in Greek Historiography
  • Roman Historiography: The Intersection of Poetry and History
  • Performance, Social Rituals, and Political Power in Classical Antiquity
  • Greek and Roman Religion (open theme)
  • Classical Archaeology (open theme)

Abstracts for proposed papers should be sent via email to aah2014 [at] mcgill.ca  by November 15, 2013. Please limit abstracts to 500 words, with concise in-text citations; attach as a PDF (preferable), .doc or .rtf.

Addendum: You may either include your name and academic affiliation on your abstract, or submit an abstract without identification so that it is evaluated anonymously.

The 2014 AAH meeting will be held in coordination with the 2014 Annual General Meeting of the Classical Association of Canada. It will be possible to register for, attend and participate in both meetings.  Please check back on this website for more information on registration and accommodations, as it becomes available. Direct any questions to the local organizer, Michael Fronda (aah2014 [at] mcgill.ca).
