Location

Amos is a town located in western Quebec, in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue area. The site is located about 595 km from downtown Montreal. The teaching site is part of the Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

  • Internal Medicine consultations: in and outpatient
  • Pacemaker clinics
  • Intensive care unit consultations
  • Exercise stress testing
  • Bronchoscopy, intubations +|- central lines with anesthesia
  • Cardio-pulmonary rehab unit
  • Palliative care, home care
  • Mock oral Examinations

Type of Lodging

Lodging is provided by the establishment and is located few minutes away (walking distance) from the hospital and Co-op Santé.

Trainees are lodged in a shared apartment. Trainees have a private room and share common gender-neutral areas (bathroom, kitchen, living room).

Lodging can be available as of the evening before the first day of your rotation.

Trainees are expected at the DPS office of the hospital between 8:30 am and 9:00 am on the first day of their rotation.

Note: It is important that everyone does their share to keep all common areas clean and safe at any time.

Transportation

Trainees can travel to the site by bus or car. We recommend that trainees drive if they have access to a car, as this will allow more mobility.

Each trainee receives a stipend to help pay for transportation costs.

Trainees must make their own travel arrangements.

NOTE: For all students making their own arrangements. All students will be required to attend a mandatory Progress Test at the end of each block.

PLEASE do not make any travel arrangements before confirming the exact date of your test.


Travelling by Bus

Autobus Maheux serves the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. Departure in Montreal from the bus station, Gare d’autocar de Montréal, located at the Berri-UQAM métro station.
