General Description
Location
The City of Senneterre is located in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. With a population of nearly 3,000, this welcoming city has an area of 16,524 square kilometers which ranks it 3rd amongst the largest cities in Quebec. Its vast territory has a large number of open spaces, lakes and rivers to practice all kinds of activities, both summer and winter.
Please note that rotations for the 2019-2020 year will begin effective February 2020.

Clinical Exposure and Learning Experiences
Rotation primarily done in CLSC.
Clinical exposure of trainees includes mainly:
- Private clinic
- Emergency
Clinical exposure of trainees may also include:
- Minor Procedures (clinical procedures) (once monthly)
- Home care visits
- Prenatal/Postnatal Care
- Pregnancy monitoring in Aboriginal village (1x/2 months)
- Other clinical exposures: Diabetes, Physiotherapy, wound care

The clinic provides primary care services.
The Senneterre Health Center also has a medical team of four (4) physicians and:
- Emergency 24/7
- 2 short-term care beds
- 8 long-term care beds
- 1 temporary-stay bed
Lodging
Type of Lodging
Lodging provided is on the premises. The trainees stay in a room in the basement of the CLSC with a small private refrigerator, Wi-Fi, cable TV and private bathroom (shower).
Trainees have a single room and share common areas (kitchen) with other health professionals.
► Take note: It is important that everyone do their part to keep the accommodations clean and safe at all times.

Transportation
Trainees can travel to the site by car, bus or train.
Depending on the location of their base teaching site, each trainee receives a stipend to help pay for transportation costs.
Trainees must make their own travel arrangements.
NOTE: For all students making their own arrangements. All students will be required to attend a mandatory Progress Test at the end of each block.
PLEASE do not make any travel arrangements before confirming the exact date of your test.
Traveling by Bus
- Autobus Maheux serves Senneterre and most of the Abitibi-Temiskaming region. Departure in Montreal from the bus station, Gare d’autocar de Montréal, located at the Berri-UQAM métro station. Duration of the bus ride: approximately 9 and a half hours. Please see their website or call directly at 1-866-863-6066 for more information.
