These checklists are mandatory reading for all new students – they'll help you get off on the right foot and make sure you meet all your important deadlines.

Engineering Compulsory Orientation Session (for all students, including special, visiting, and exchange students)

2024 Session

Date: January 4th, 2024

Time: 9:00am – 10:00am

Location: FDA3 – Frank Adams Building, 3450 Rue University (ENGINE)

Departmental/School Advising Sessions:

On an individual basis. Students should reach out to their Department to ensure that they are registered in the correct courses. Please see our list of Advisors.


University-wide Winter 2024 Orientation

Date: January 4th, 2024

Time: 4:30 – 7:00pm

Location: University Centre Ballroom

The Winter 2024 Orientation is taking place on January 4 from 4:30pm -7:00pm, to welcome the incoming students. There will be a welcome address, refreshments, a student panel for both grads and undergrads (separately) and an opportunity to mingle and network. There are a series of pre-arrival webinars offered as well.


Transfer Credit Information

McGill University will automatically grant you transfer credit for which you are eligible. These transfer credits will be reflected on your McGill transcript.  If they do not reflect on your transcript, please contact melissa.kinney [at] mcgill.ca (Melissa Kinney).

Note: You are not be permitted to retake a course in which transfer credits have been granted.

Where transfer credits have been granted, the following selection of courses/curriculum will help you build your course schedule for each term. A Department/School Advisor will assist you with alternate course selection to complete your schedule during the Advising Session in January.

Key Dates for Winter 2024 Term

 

  1. Thursday, January 4 - Deadline to register without penalty (new students only).

  2. Thursday, January 4 – Classes begin

  3. Tuesday, January 16 – Deadline to Course Change (add/drop) With refund
  4. Tuesday, January 23 – Deadline for Course Withdrawal (with refund)
  5. Tuesday, February 27 – Deadline for withdrawal with NO fee refund

ID Cards

 

Obtain your student identification (ID) card at Service Point, 3415 McTavish Street, McLennan Library Building. First, you must register for at least one course and wait 24 hours following registration.

McGill Email Address

 

Moving forward, the McGill Engineering Student Centre will only send official communication to your McGill email address select “McGill Email”. If you are having issues, please contact 514-398-3398.
