Maeike Zijlmans

young smiling woman with blue eyes is smiling broadly. She is wearing light colored clothes, she has wavy hair.

Maeike Zijlmans obtained an MD degree at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands in 2003. As part of her MD, she worked at the MNI to study seizure detection and heart rate changes during epileptic seizures in 2001. From 2004 up till now, she is both conducting a PhD study and is training for neurologist, with special interest in epilepsy, at the University Medical Centre Utrecht in the Netherlands. She studied the value of MEG and EEG-fMRI for epileptic source localization.

Her focus at the MNI was high frequency oscillations in intracranial EEG. Finally, she wanted to implement this technique in Utrecht and compare high frequency oscillationsto non-invasive source localization in close collaboration with the MNI. For this project she received an AGIKO-grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and financial support from the University Medical Centre (Internationalization Program). She is back to Utrecht now.
